Kushinagar: Located at a distance of approximately 50 km from Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh, Kushinagar is the place where Buddha died at the age of 80 after attaining the state of Mahaparinirvana (Permanent Bliss).


The major tourist attractions of Kushinagar include the Mahaparinirvana Temple, Nirvana Chaitya, Ramabhar Stupa, Matha Kuar Shrine, Meditation Park, Indo-Japan-Sri Lanka Temple, Wai Thai Temple and the Museum.


Sankasya: Sankasya is located at about 47 km from Farrukhabad town in Uttar Pradesh India. It is believed that in Sankasya Buddha descended from Tushita Heaven along with Brahma and Devraj Indra after giving discourses to his mother in heaven. It is said that Buddha went to Tushita Heaven to teach Dharma to his mother.


The major attractions at Sankasya are a temple with the statue of Buddha, Bisari Devi Temple and Ashokan Elephant Pillar.


Vaishali: The ancient capital of famous Mauryan Empire, Vaishali is at a distance of about 55 km from Patna, the capital city of the Indian state of Bihar. Lord Buddha visited Vaishali frequently and preached his last sermon at Kolhua, a small village situated in close proximity to Vaishali. To commemorate the event, Emperor Ashoka erected one of his famous lion pillars in Vaishali in the 3rd century BC. The second great Buddhist council was also held in Vaishali, nearly 100 years after the Mahaparinirvana (permanent bliss) of the Buddha. Two fine stupas were erected in Vaishali to commemorate this significant Buddhist event.

The place is famous for hosting Lord Buddha for many rainy seasons in the Jetvana Gardens. It is said that Lord Buddha performed many miracles during his stay in Sravasti.
